JAMB General Cut Off Mark for 2023
The official Joint Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) general cut off mark for 2023 has been published by the management of the institution.
According to JAMB, they have stated that the cut off mark which was released is the benchmark or criteria for all prospective undergraduate students should be considered for admission in any institution in Nigeria.
On that note, it is expected that no university in Nigeria should any cut off mark that is below the already given JAMB cut off mark, unless if there is any special adjustment that is made by the institution.
This is to ensure orderliness the methods of giving admission for 2023/2024 academic session and to maintain the standard of education in Nigeria.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) having looked at the general performance of candidates in the just concluded 2023 JAMB examination, have selected 140 cut off mark as the minimum requirement for any candidate to be considered for admission into any institution through JAMB.
Therefore any candidate who score 160 and above in JAMB should be hopeful that 2023/2024 admission is going to be offered to him/her.
It should be noted that the given cut off mark does not override the respective institution’s admission requirements. Before any candidate can be considered for undergraduate admission, such candidate must meet the admission criteria as stipulated by the institutions.
JAMB Cut Off Mark For Federal Universities
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have released their cut off mark for all the federal universities. This is not different from the general cut off mark which was given earlier. So, the 2023 JAMB cut off mark for the Federal Universities still remains 140.
However, there are some universities that may not want to accept the generally given JAMB Cut Off Mark for 2023 . It is either that they would want to use greater cut off marks or they would like to reduce it for their candidates.
This is the reason why most times, the Cut Off Marks of all Federal Universities in Nigeria are not always uniform. Some institutions, may still want to maintain usual former standards in their cut off marks.
In this section, I am going to give you the list all Federal Universities in Nigeria and the possible range in which their cut off mark will definitely fall in between.
For 2023, the cut off mark for all federal universities are going to fall within the range of 140 to 200. Any candidate who got a score between this ranges should be hopeful that he/she is going to be considered for admission in the 2023/2024 academic session in Federal Universities.
In addition to this, the candidate must meet the expected departmental cut off mark and other school admission requirements for their respective chosen courses of study.
The following are the list of Federal Universities in Nigeria that can give you admission with the JAMB score of 200 or below:

State Universities Cut Off Marks for 2023
Just like the case of the Federal Universities, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board did not state a particular cut off mark specific for all the State Universities.
The same case is applicable here; some state universities might decide to use the 2022 JAMB general cut off mark which 160 or they might also decide to reduce the cut off mark to suite their preference.
Whichever way they want to follow, it is certain that most of the state universities in Nigeria do not adopt cut off mark that is above 140. This is advantageous to those who were not able to score very high in the UTME.
However, it is advisable that you should have at least two choices of institutions; preferably one Federal University and one State University. This will give you more opportunity of being considered for admission, especially if JAMB score is not above 160.
The 2022 cut off marks for most state universities is between 140- 160. Below are the lists of state universities that can accept the cut off mark of 140-160:

JAMB Cut Off Mark for Medicine
The 2023 JAMB Cut Off Marks for Medicine and Surgery is to be determined by respective universities in Nigeria that offer the course. However, it believed that no Nigerian university will take less than 250 for medicine and surgery and other highly competitive courses.
Many of the 2023 JAMB candidates have been anxious to know if the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have released a special cut off mark for medicine and surgery. This is because; medicine is one of the most competitive courses that most science students would like to study.
Unfortunately, the question of what the JAMB Cut Off Mark for medicine and surgery is is not within the jurisdiction of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to determine.
As usual, all universities that offer medicine respectively will determine the acceptable cut off marks for medicine and surgery for their institution for the 2023/2024 academic session. This is usually released immediately after the Post UTME Screening Exercise has been conducted.
Due to the competitive nature of the course, it is expected that any candidate who wishes to study medicine and surgery in any of the Nigerian universities must score at least 250 in the just concluded UTME.
