About Shaanxi Normal University, China

Founded in 1944, Shaanxi Normal University is a top-tier comprehensive teachers’ university directly administered by the Ministry of Education and under the key construction of the state’s “211” Project.

Presently, it has 21 schools and departments, 2 basic courses teaching departments, 65 undergraduate majors, 159 master’s degree specializations, 69 doctoral specializations and 18 post-doctoral mobile research stations.

The university has competitive advantages in areas of Chinese Language and Literature, History and Cultural Studies, Business Administration, International Trade, Education and Psychology, Bio-engineering.

The university has nearly 2,800 faculty, of which more than 1740 are full-time teachers and more than 88% are Masters or Doctoral degree holders, 66% are Doctoral degree holders.

There are more than 17900 full-time undergraduates, 12000 postgraduates, over 40000 are pursuing continuing education and network education and more than 1000 are international students.

The university is situated in the famous historical and cultural city of Xi’an. The two campuses, Chang’an and Yanta, occupy an area of about 2700 mu (approx. 180 hectares).

Yanta campus is adjacent to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda of Tang Dynasty, and Chang’an campus is neighbor to the Zhongnan Mountain, earning the university the name of “Garden Campus”.

About Shaanxi Normal University International Students Scholarship Program

Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship is a full scholarship or a partial scholarship established by our university to enroll outstanding international students for postgraduate studies in SNNU.

Duration of the Scholarship

This scholarship only supports master’s students for no more than 3 years or doctoral students for no more than 4 years.

The Chinese Government Scholarship students who require one year Chinese training should be aware that it is required to pass HSK or pass the designated Chinese examination organized by Shaanxi Normal University after one-year Chinese training.

Those who do not pass HSK or the designated examination can continue to study their major for one year, during this period if they still do not pass the exams, the students must return to their countries as non-degree students.

Language Requirement for Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship Program

All programs are Chinese-taught programs and there are three PhD English taught Programs. They include; Education, Chemistry, Computer Software and Technology.

Application Period

The application for the Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship Program starts on January 1, and ends on June.

Programs Available for Application

For the Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship, there are opportunities for both Master’s Degrees and Doctor’s Degrees Programmes. Below are the details about the programs:

Master’s Degree Programs

Program Introduction

Students are required to complete the curriculum between 2-3 years, fulfill the designated credits, complete the master’s thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the Master’s degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee.

Application Prerequisites
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
(2) Applicants must be above the age of 18 and under the age of 50，healthy.
(3) Applicants must have attained a bachelor’s degree.
(4) Applicants must get the score of 180 in HSK test level 5.

Doctor’s Degree Programs

Program Introduction

Students are required to complete the curriculum between 3-4 years (in normal circumstances), fulfill the designated number of credits, conduct research, complete the doctoral thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts.

Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate with the doctoral degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee. Note that there are only full-time courses offered for international students currently.

Application Prerequisites
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
(2)Applicants must be above the age of 18 and under the age of 50，healthy.
(3)Applicants must have attained a master’s degree.
(4) Applicants must get the score of 180 in HSK test level 5.
(5)Applicants should get the approval from the supervisor.

Eligibility for Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship Program

To be eligible, applicants must:

be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;
Master’s degree applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 40;
Doctoral degree applicants must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 45.

How to Apply for Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship Program 2022-2023

To apply for the Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship Program for 2022, kindly follow instructions given in this section of the article:

Complete the online application procedure at Shaanxi Normal University Online Application System at: https://snnu.17gz.org/.
Submit the completed application form for Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship online and print a hard copy;
Submit all your application documents by post to International Students Office before the deadline.
Conduct preliminary examination of materials, interviews and comprehensive assessment;
After the final auditing by the China Scholarship Council, the admission name list will be announced online during July-August 2022.

Documents Required for the Application

Applicants should get the following documents (in Duplicates) ready for the application of the Shaanxi Normal International University International Scholarship Program:

Application Form for Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship (written in Chinese or English);

Ensure you have both submitted it online and printed the hard copy.

2. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy);

Prospective diploma winners must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date.

Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. Research results. Published thesis, award certificates, etc. to prove their academic achievements and research capabilities;

5. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English, a minimum of 800 words for master applicants and 1500 words for PhD applicants);

6. Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);

Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signed by professor or associate professor.

7. Valid HSK certificate;

8. Photocopy of Passport Photo Page;

9. Notarized No Criminal Activity Certificate (in English or Chinese);

10. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy);

Special Information

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid.

Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Please keep the original copy of the Form for school registration.

All the documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of( a )to (j) and be sent to ISO before 31 March, 2023.
