About Federal University Gusau
The Federal University of Gusau (FUGUS) is a public research university located in Gusau, Zamfara State, Nigeria. It is one of the twelve new federal universities established in states where none existed. The university offers programs in arts-based and science-based disciplines. It commenced its establishment on February 18, 2013, and started its first academic year in the 2014–2015 session. The academic structure is developed based on the approved guidelines of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant stakeholders.
The academic development of FUGUS will occur in phases, each lasting 5 years. New faculties, departments, and academic programs will be established during each phase. The initial academic activities include a School of Pre-Science Studies and three faculties: Humanities and Education, Management and Social Sciences, and Science.
FUGUS presently has 17 departments offering 27 undergraduate academic programmes and plans to expand to include M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in the future. The university has established connections with other Nigerian universities and has access to a large pool of lecturers and scientists from across the country.
The university aims to train graduates with the academic and practical background necessary for advancing mankind in a friendly, interactive, and multicultural environment. The training programs are focused on producing graduates capable of solving local Nigerian problems and global challenges. Professional and ethical responsibilities, along with special skills acquisition, are integrated into all programs. Students must pass compulsory General and Entrepreneurial Studies courses to be eligible for a degree. These courses are designed to equip graduates for the workforce and instill respect for diversity and the environment.

Is FUGUS Admission Out?
Yes, the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) admission list for all undergraduate programmes has been released by the management of the institution. As usual, the admission list was released exactly two months after the conclusion of the FUGUS Post-UTME Screening exercise. Candidates should note that Undergraduate Admissions into Federal University Gusau are offered by JAMB after passing the required cut-off points and successfully passing the screening examinations. To check admission status on the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) Portal, kindly follow the steps below:
- Visit the portal at: https://ugs.fugusau.edu.ng/
- Click on the “Check Admission” button
- Enter your JAMB Number
- Click on “Submit” to view your admission status
How to Check FUGUS Admission List on JAMB Portal
Another way of check the FUGUS Admission status is through the JAMB portal (CAPS). It requires the following procedures:
- Go to the JAMB portal at https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/.
- Log in to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
- Scroll down, then locate and click the Check Admission Status tab.
- Select your exam year and enter your registration number in the required column.
- Finally, click on Check Admission Status to access your FUGUS admission status, or click on Access My CAPS to access CAPS for admission status and other related services.

What to Do After Checking FUGUS Admission Status
Candidates successfully admitted into the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) first-degree programmes are advised to:
- Login to their JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and ACCEPT or REJECT their admission.
- Print their JAMB admission letter after accepting the admission.
- Print their original JAMB result slip (this comes with passport photography affixed to it).
- Apply for a change of course on the JAMB Portal in case they are offered courses different from the ones they initially applied for.
More Information on FUGUS Admission
- If your JAMB CAPS is still “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS,” it means that JAMB is still working on uploading your admission status. It is definitely going to show ADMITTED once they are through with the processes involved.
- In case your name is not found on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd admission list on the FUGUS Portal, you do not have to give up. There is still hope of getting admission for you if you have gotten up to the JAMB and School Cut Off Marks. You have to keep checking until all the batches of admission lists are out.
