About Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU)

Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) was patterned after the American State University system. In addition to adopting the “land grant” system, Olabisi Onabanjo University was established to lead in the identification of the state’s problems and also proffer solutions for them.

To enable the university have a state-wide reach, Ogun State University was designed as a multi-campus institution, with College of Health Sciences in Sagamu (Remo), College of Engineering in Ibogun (Egba), College of Agricultural Sciences in Aiyetoro (Yewa), and the Main campus housing Faculties of Arts and Humanities as well as Natural Sciences in Ago-Iwoye (Ijebu).

Egba Campus [Location: Ibogun]

The origination of the word Egba is disputed. The first meaning may come from the word Ẹ̀gbálugbó, meaning wanderers towards the forest, and this comes from the fact that the ancestors of the Egba people came from the region of the Oyo Empire to the “Egba Forest” and formed what we now know as the city of Abeokuta. 

The “Egbalugbo” were in conjunction with the Ẹ̀gbáluwẹ or Ẹ̀gbálodó, meaning the wanderers towards the river, who later shortened there name to “Egbado,” another subethnic group of the Yoruba. Another possible meaning may come from the word Ẹsẹ̀gbá, the title of a chief which led several groups of the Egba to their present location.

Ayetoro lies on the latitude 70 12’N and longitude 30 3’ E in a deciduous- derived savannah zone of Ogun State. The climate is sub-humid tropical with a longtime average annual rainfall of 1,909.30mm. Ayetoro is about 35 km northwest of Abeokuta, a town in south-west part of Nigeria and the capital of Ogun State. The town is the administrative seat/headquarters of Yewa (formally known as Egbado) North Local Government Area.

 (i)   General Requirements

The Minimum entry requirement for admission into Olabisi Onabanjo University is a Credit pass in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained at not more than two sittings. In addition, Olabisi Onabanjo University conducts Screening Exercises for all candidates seeking admission into the University. Candidates are also to note that there are other requirements that may be specific to the faculty and/or a Program.

Direct Entry

  • Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
  • Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
  • Candidates are expected to get JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.
  • Candidates should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN
