Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU)
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) is a federal university of technology located in Bauchi, north east Nigeria. The university is named after the first Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The motto of the university is “Doctrina Mater Artium”, which means “Education is the mother of the practical arts”.
The university was established in 1980 with the help of experts from Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The curriculum is focused on practical applications, and the university has six schools offering degrees in Engineering, Science, Environmental Technology, Agriculture, Management Technology, and Technology Education. Each school is led by a Dean who reports to the Vice Chancellor, who is the executive head of the university.

Yes, the management of the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has finally released the admission lists for all undergraduate programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session. Currently, the ATBU Admission List is only out on the JAMB Admission portal (CAPS). To check your admission status on this platform, you are exoected to follow the procedure given below:
- To access your Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) admission status, go to the JAMB portal at https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/.
- Login to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
- Scroll down then locate and click the Check Admission Status tab.
- Select your Exam year and enter your registration number in the required column.
- Finally, click on Check Admission Status to access your ATBU admission status or click on ‘Access my CAPS‘ to access CAPS for Admission status and other related services.
Candidates not yet admitted should note that admission is in progress and regularly check the JAMB site and the University website for their admission status.
How to Check ATBU Admission List on the School Portal
You will be able to follow the procedure outlined below once the list is uploaded on the university website.
- Go to ATBU admission status checking portal at http://portal.atbu.edu.ng/screening/pages/login.php.
- Enter your JAMB registration number in the required column and select your institution.
- Finally, click on Login to access your ATBU admission status.

What to Do After Checking ATBU Admission Status
Candidates successfully admitted into the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) first-degree programmes are advised to:
- Login to their JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and ACCEPT or REJECT their admission.
- Print their JAMB admission letter after accepting the admission.
- Print their original JAMB result slip (this comes with passport photography affixed to it).
- Apply for a change of course on the JAMB Portal in case they are offered courses different from the ones they initially applied for.

- If the your JAMB CAPS is still “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS”, it means that JAMB is still working on uploading of your admission status. It is definitely going to show ADMITTED once they are through with the processes involved.
- In case your name is not found on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd admission list on the ATBU Portal, you do not have to give up. There is still hope of getting admission for you if have gotten up to the JAMB and School Cut Off Marks. You have to keep checking until all the batches of admission lists are out.
