Georgia State University General Entry Requirements

Georgia State University general Entry Requirements for students who have never been enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university is that they must complete at least a Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) course units. The same requirement is also applicable to those that attended a college or university only as a dual enrollment student while in high school. These class of students are considered a first-year student.

The detail of the requirements are as shown below:

Georgia State also requires SAT or ACT test scores. Board of Regents’ minimum criteria for each section:*

  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of at least 480 and SAT Math score of at least 440
  • ACT English or Reading score of at least 17 and ACT Math score of at least 17

Meeting the minimum scores does not guarantee admission.

*Test scores are optional for some 2023 applicants. Applicants with a recalculated high school GPA of 3.4 or higher do not need to submit test scores. Applicants with a 3.4 or less should provide test scores. 

How do I compare with the average admissible first-year student at Georgia State?
The average ranges for admissible first-year students are as follows:**

High School core GPA 3.24 – 3.76
SAT (combined) 1030 – 1220
ACT (composite) 20 – 26

**Based on the middle 50% of the fall 2021 admitted class
